5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 13

Your daily digest of need-to-know information about Potomac.

It’s almost the weekend, so stay on top of today’s news in Potomac and hopefully it will get you to the weekend that much faster. The five things to know include local activities, fundraisers and celebrations. 

1. Take your umbrella just in case, because rain might be hitting Potomac. There is a slight chance of rain today before 2 p.m., again before 8 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The day’s high is 72 degrees and the low will be around 57 degrees.

2. Local students will showcase their talents this evening at the ’s  31st Annual Art Show. During the past year, students have explored lines, shapes, colors, textures and space, and will display two and three dimensional paintings and sculptures. The art show will take place at the school from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will also feature beautiful classical music performed by alumni student, Anna Rose Chi and other student musicians.

3. If you’re looking for things to do this weekend in Potomac, Patch has you covered. 4. This evening, stop by to join in the celebration of in the Priesthood. From 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., the National Cathedral Choir and Orchestra will be performing a concert in honor of Rado. Tickets are $30.

5. is providing an opportunity for Potomac residents to dine and give back during their annual fundraiser for Children’s National Medical Center. Beginning at 9:30 p.m., the South Glen Band will play and the fundraiser will be underway, so hang out, enjoy the music, eat, drink and, of course, give to a good cause.
