5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 20

Read these five things to stay on top of local news and get you prepared for the weekend.

Good morning, Potomac! It’s almost the weekend, so use these five things to help you get through the day and help you plan your weekend.

1. It’s been a rainy week, and today is one more day with possible rain. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. and again before 8 p.m. and before midnight, according to the National Weather Service. The day’s high will be around 75 degrees and the low will be about 57 degrees.

2. Today is the day to ditch the car and grab your helmet because it’s “National Bike to Work Day.” There will be 50 regional pit stops throughout D.C., Maryland and Virginia where participants can get their free “Bike to Work Day” t-shirt, enjoy free snacks and drinks, enter to win some excellent raffle prizes, meet other bike commuters and most importantly have some fun celebrating bicycling as a clean, inexpensive and fun mode of transportation. Are you participating? Let us know and feel free to send in pictures, too!
