Diener Students Show Their Moves at First School Dance
The students at Diener School had their Valentine's Day dance on Thursday.
The hosted its first school-sponsored dance on Thursday to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The school, which serves special needs students in kindergarten through 5th grade, worked with its more than 30 students to prepare them for some of the social situations they might encounter at the dance.
“We covered how to ask someone to dance and how to respectfully say no if you don’t want to dance. We also covered the rules for safety and other social behaviors at a dance,” said Jen Nannes, a speech pathologist who works with the students at Diener School. “The kids seem to really be enjoying themselves."
