UPDATE: Flash Flood Watch, Power Outages

A flash flood watch is in effect for Montgomery County beginning at noon.

Update, 3:15 p.m.: About 23 power outages remain, affecting 125 Montgomery County customers, according to Pepco's Storm Center map

Pepco estimates power restoration for affected areas between 5 and 6 p.m.

Update, 1:00 p.m.: Heavy rain and thunder have started ahead of today's forecast, causing 52 active power outages in the Montgomery County area.

According to Pepco's Storm Center map, over 8,000 Montgomery County residents have been affected by the outages, including nearly 1,200 residents in the Potomac area.

Originial story, 9:59 a.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Montgomery County beginning at noon today and extending into the evening.

Potomac's forecast on weather.com currently calls for rain and thunderstorms beginning around 4 p.m.
