Get Out: Potomac Picks for Aug. 12-14

Summer is winding down. Make the most of the final days of August with fun activities for you and the entire family.

It’s the weekend—and as yet—you may not have plans. There’s still time to make a last ditch getaway, but if you've already been on your summer vacation, then here’s some ideas for great activities for sticking around the Potomac area.

This is the time when lots of folks are gone, so tickets are easy to come by and less traffic and venues make it ever so easy. It's time to get off work early and enjoy the rest of the summer with some cool activities.

4.  D.C. RESTAURANT WEEK IS HAPPENING IN POTOMAC, ROCKVILLE AND BETHESDA

WHERE/WHEN: Monday, Aug. 15-21, Bezu in Potomac, Jaleo, Redwood in Bethesda, and La Tasca in Rockville will feature special menus.

WHY GO: Fine dining at a discount price.

5.  IT'S OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD AT THE WIZARD OF OZ

7.  FALL TRYOUTS FOR AND SPORTS TEAMS

WHEN/WHERE: Churchill and Whitman high schools, Saturday, Aug. 13

WHY GO: High School students who want to play a fall sport need to attend tryouts and practices (football, golf, cheerleading, boys and girls soccer, cross country, girls tennis, field hockey, poms, girls volleyball, spirit, co-ed track and field)
