Get Out: Weekend Picks for April 8-10

It's Thursday – time to think about going out this weekend, but you have absolutely no idea of what to do. Patch is coming to the rescue.

You want to spend some time outside enjoying the Spring weather, but also need to know what is going on in Potomac.  Patch has some great ideas for making the most of your “outta-work, havin’ fun” time.

WHY GO: This exciting, energetic song and dance-filled extravaganza is outstanding.  Presented by 200 talented Churchill students, this year’s show records change across society, music and life. Rock and roll, folk music and popular hits highlight this not-to-be missed performance.

PRICING: Reserved seats, $20, reserved balcony and side seats, and open seating $14. Purchase tickets online or at the lobby box office, which opens one hour before each show and during the day Monday through Friday from 10:50 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

 

2. POTOMAC LIBRARY BOOK SALE

WHERE/WHEN: , Saturday from  10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHY GO: Arrive early for nearly-new books for children and adults  

PRICING: $1 for hardback books, $.50 for paperback books

 

3. “GREAT EGGPECTATIONS”

WHERE/WHEN: Locust Grove Nature Center, Cabin John Regional Park, Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.             

WHY GO: Spring is all about life. Learn about the eggs we find in Cabin John Regional Park and what animals they belong to. Ages 1 and up.

4. TUNE UP YOUR GOLF GAME

WHERE/WHEN: Falls Road Golf Course, 10800 Falls Rd.

WHY GO: Golf season is finally here. Practice your drives, pitches and wedges at the 22 Stall Driving Range or venture out onto the scenic golf course for 18 holes of challenging golf. Take a private or group lesson from one of the golf pros or participate in a free family clinic on May 22.

PRICING: $29.95 and up based on day of the week, time, adult, senior or junior, walking or riding in a cart. For more information call 301-299-5156.

 

5. CULTURAL FAIR - SPONSORED BY AU PAIR IN AMERICA

WHERE/WHEN: Glen Echo Park Spanish Ball Room, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

WHY GO: Montgomery County Au Pairs will dance, sing and present information about the culture of their countries. Passports will be given to children who will learn about world, meet interesting people from each country and collect stamps on their passports. Bring a picnic, see the Adventure Theater show, play at the playground and make a day of Glen Echo park.  

PRICING: Free 

 

6. “IF YOU GIVE A CAT A CUPCAKE” ADVENTURE THEATER

WHERE/WHEN: Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd.,  Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

7. JAZZ CAFÉ – THE BULLIS SCHOOL

WHERE/WHEN: Blair Family Center for the Arts, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

WHY GO: Enjoy an evening of dinner and jazz with the entire family.  Swing to the music of Bullis students and featured guests The Bullis Jazz Faculty All-Stars.

PRICING: Adults $5, Students $2. Dinner is not included in admission price.
