Grab and Go Kids Planner

Enjoy early Spring with cherry blossoms or playing in the park. Then come inside for student films and theater for all ages.

If you're looking for weekend fun, Grab and Go Kids Planner is a great resource; however, after this week Potomac Patch will discontinue this story. Similar events will now be part of the Get Out feature that runs every Thursday. Starting April 7, check back for a more robust weekend planner filled with great options for fun around Potomac.

Where/When: Westfield Montgomery Mall, 7101 Democracy Ln., Bethesda. Thursday, March 31 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Montgomery County schools are out on Thursday. Take the opportunity to enjoy more than 30 short films made by county students. The proceeds from this film festival will go to the non-profit group, Free the Children, which builds schools in third-world countries.

 • PARENTS NIGHT OUT

Where/When: Cabin John Shopping Mall, at the intersection of Seven Locks road and Tuckerman.  Saturday April 2 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go:  Parents, drop your potty trained 3 to 8-year-olds at  for tons of fun! Children will enjoy a circus theme, balancing on tight ropes, swinging on trapezes, learning to juggle and much more! Kids eat a pizza dinner and watch a short movie at the end of the night. Spots are limited. Sign up in advance.

Pricing:  $30 Members/$35 for Non-members, $20 for siblings

 

• ENJOY HADLEY’S PLAYGROUND, AN ALL ACCESS FACILITY

Where/When: , 12600 Falls Rd. in Potomac

Why Go:  Get the kids outside without dealing with wet grass and mud. Hadley's Playground is a unique and fully accessible playground that allows children of all ages and abilities to play together. The facility features numerous climbing structures each with at least one ramp for wheel chair accessibility, and the entire playground is built on rubber mats. There is a shaded gazebo, miniature climbing wall, and large baseball field as well.

CHILDREN’S THEATER WORKSHOP

Where/When:  Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave., Bethesda, Sunday April 3, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Why Go: 1 to 5-year-olds will love these weekly workshops that are based on favorite story books.

Pricing: $10

 

• CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN KENWOOD

Where/When: Kenwood, peak bloom is March 29 through April 3.

Why Go: Take the family to see cherry blossoms close to home! Enjoy Kenwood’s lovely trees. Try Brookside Avenue off River Road, or enjoy the trees lining the park at Dorset Avenue, just off Little Falls Parkway.

Pricing: free

 

IF YOU GIVE A CAT A CUPCAKE, CHILDREN’S PLAY

Where/When:  Adventure Theatre, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Bethesda. April 2: 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m.. April 3: 11 a.m., 2 p.m.. Performances through April 25.

Why Go: Enjoy another delightful tale from the author of IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, Laura J. Numeroff.  If you give a cat a cupcake, he'll ask for some sprinkles to go with it. When you give him the sprinkles, he might spill some on the floor…and that's just the beginning!

Pricing: $15, show runs about an hour
