More Than 1,400 Potomac Residents Without Power

High winds are causing power outages in the area.

High winds in Potomac are leaving many residents without power.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Pepco reported that 1,463 customers in the ZIP code 20854 are currently without power.

Clusters of outages are occurring near the Bradley Farms and Fawsett Farms communities in Potomac.

Pepco spokesperson Bob Hainey said more than 650 members of the Pepco staff are working to restore power in the area.

"What happens is as we're restoring people, the winds are knocking more people out," Hainey said. "We're doing what we can and we're working where we can, where it's safe."

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning in the area with winds gusts reaching up to 55 miles-per-hour.
