This week’s news in Potomac revolved around an accident on I-270, the modernization of a school and the arts.

A south of the Democracy Boulevard exit of the I-270 spur. The accident caused back ups and shut down several lanes during rush hour.

PTA members, representatives from Montgomery County Public Schools, local officials and Comptroller Peter Franchot got an exclusive tour of Cabin John Middle School on Tuesday, just a few months before the completion of the school’s modernization. Franchot — who is a member of the state’s Board of Public Works, which approves school construction funding — stopped by to get a firsthand look at the new facility and assess construction funding needs. Churchill High School on Friday and had additional shows on Saturday and Sunday. Directed by Carlos Barillo, this show’s theme is the societal revolution as reflected by each generation’s music. The show will present songs and dances from the civil rights movement and anti-war generation to the women’s rights and gay rights movements as well as music of the modern generation. Did you miss the shows this weekend? Performances are also scheduled for April 8 and 9, both at 7:30 p.m.
