Week in Review: New Superintendent, Local Business Will Close and Royal Wedding Celebrations

This week in Potomac, residents were mourning the loss of a professor, saying goodbye to a local business and preparing for the royal wedding.

On Monday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service the man who at 8509 Scarboro Ct. as Sung Y. Kwack, a 74-year-old Potomac resident. Kwack was a professor at Howard University, according to a NBC story, and the university's website shows that he taught in the Department of Economics. Kwack earned a Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley and specialized in teaching monetary economics as well as international finance, according to the his profile on Howard University's website.

On Wednesday, Potomac Patch reported that after 16 years of business in Potomac Village, will . The children’s clothing store, which recently had a , will close on May 31 or a date near that, said Owner Barbara Cohn. The cost of doing business and the changing shopping habits lead to the store’s close, Cohn said.
