Music Together

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program for children from birth through age five. First
offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a
research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music
curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.

Central
to the Music Together approach is the knowledge that young children
learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are
actively making music. The program brings families together by providing
a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family
participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context
of daily life.

Music Together is committed to helping families
and caregivers rediscover the pleasure and educational value of informal
music experiences.

Classes are made up of 6-12 children and their adult caregivers.  All classes are for mixed age family groups.

Each
week we explore the songs and chants in the semester's song collection.
A dozen musical experiences are included in each class, which
incorporate fun, playful, and interactive ways to focus on tonal and
rhythmic elements of music. Instruction is informal; children may or
may not participate as they choose and do so according to their
developmental level.

The
teacher helps adults understand how to participate, regardless of their
musical ability, and the importance of relaxing and enjoying the
activities with their children. Parent education during class will help
parents understand the relevance of class activities to each child's
musical development.

Each
session lasts ten weeks; classes are held weekly and run for forty-five
minutes. Tuition is $195 for one child and $110 for siblings. Siblings 8 months or younger attend free.
The price includes 2 professionally produced CDs, an illustrated
songbook, and parent education materials and events. There is a one-time
new family registration fee of $10.
