Zebu Jilani to Speak on Swat Relief Initiative, Pakistan

The Potomac-Bethesda Rotary Club's speaker at the Normandie Farm Restaurant for August 30 is Zebu Jilani, President of the Swat Relief Initiative.

Swat Relief Initiative strives to improve the lives of women and children in Pakistan through healthcare, education, economic growth and a sustainable environment. This nonprofit organization also empowers societies through community development, social mobilization and awareness programs to help them achieve a better quality of life.

In the past three years, the Swat Valley in Pakistan has been the victim of a Taliban uprising, a massive refugee crisis caused by military conflict, and a devastating flood. The following short video outlines some of SRI’s relief efforts relating to these disasters.

The people of Swat are still reeling in the aftermath of these events, which caused mass destruction of infrastructure and human life. Because women and children are always the hardest hit, we continue to carry out relief and development efforts.

Guests are invited and a fine dinner is served with the presentation.
