Getting fit should be fun! Montgomery County Recreation has hundreds of fun programs and activities that are fun!

Million of people have identified getting healthier as their New Year's resolution. 

Weight loss is a primary objective for many when working to achieve optimal health and fitness. Research tells us that the most effective weight loss method is to increase physical activity and to cut calories. We know that exercise is important, but it can easily get lost among the countless other responsibilities and demands that we face. 

However, it is important to remember, that even small changes that increase physical activity can have positive benefits. Finding physical activities that are enjoyable can be an important first step to improving physical fitness. Dancing, swimming, and playing outside with your kids are all activities that can burn calories and get your heart pumping.

Having an exercise program that is fun will help to ensure that you look forward to your physical activities. Did you know that activities such as basketball, and dancing can burn off upward of 422 calories and hour?  

An hour of swimming can burn off over 500 calories. If calmer activities such as yoga or ballroom dance are more to your liking, they have great health benefits too. Taking a waltz with your beloved, can burn up to 211 calories an hour.
