Churchill's Scoreboard: 1 year later

Last year when Churchill High School got a new scoreboard, there was many problems that were associated with it. A few problems included:

  • The scoring before was awkward. There would be a “0” on the home side but not on the guest side
  • The timing on board didn’t work it just held at 12 minutes even though on controller the time was counting down.
  • The horn is on a delay and the board is still glitching around.
Here is an update on several of the bullet points.

For the first bullet point, the electricians wired the board wrong. Apparently they didn't do a good with the wiring behind the board. Now there is no real problems.

We did have a problem this past September when Churchill played WJ in football. When the new athletic director went to turn the board back on (the power was lost during a storm) and reported that he heard a tiny "explosion" outside of the press box. The problem was with the power cable feeding the scoreboard. We did have to play without the scoreboard for that game Monday night. The electric company came back out and replaced the power cables. Now every time there is a forecast for rain or thunderstorms, we turn the power off to the scoreboard.

For the second bullet point, it was fixed with the rewiring of the scoreboard.

For the final bullet point, there was setting in the scoreboard "sport setting" where we could have the "tenth-of-second" setting. We current have that setting on. Now every time the scoreboard time hits "0.0," the horn sounds.

Now I feel that the scoreboard is fixed. We still have problems but I feel confidant that it will not have any more problems in the future.
