UPDATE: Bullis Students Mourn Classmate Cami Baruch

Memorial details released for Bullis School senior from Rockville.

Bullis School students, faculty and community members began the week in mourning for classmate Cami Baruch, 19, who passed away this past weekend after an illness.

"Cami was an exemplary student and a beautiful person, kind hearted, generous and with a great sense of humor," Gerald L. Boarman, head of the Bullis School, said in a statement.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road, in Rockville. Attendees are asked to arrive between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m., according to a post from the Baruch family to a memorial Facebook page.

Baruch was a senior at Bullis, a private, co-educational school in Potomac for students in grades three through 12. She was from Rockville, said Susie Zimmermann, a spokeswoman for the school.

"She was a member of our National Honor Society and gave her time often with community service. Her absence will leave a large gap in our hearts and in our community and her memory will always be a part of our school," Boarman said.

Bullis students gave a special musical performance in Baruch's memory in an all-school assembly on Monday, Zimmermann said.

Students met with grief counselors on Monday, she said.

"It has been a tremendous loss for the school and students are working through that. ... Our thoughts and prayers are with the Baruch family," she said.

A Facebook page, RIP Cami Baruch, was organized on Saturday. By 2 p.m. Monday, more than 580 Facebook users had "liked" the page.
