Obituary: Joseph R. Gunn III

The Potomac resident was an international consultant, member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac and member of Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda.

Joseph R. Gunn III, a Potomac resident and member of the Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda, died June 5. He was 84 and died of lung cancer, his wife, Marie Gunn, told The Washington Post.

Mr. Gunn was board chairman from 2001 to 2008 of Robert R. Nathan Associates, an international economic consulting firm, according to his obituary in the Post.

He was a past president of the Cosmos Club in Washington, and his memberships included St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac, Kenwood Golf and Country Club in Bethesda and the Asia Society, the Post reported.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie Thurlow Gunn of Potomac; three daughters, Dana Winslow of Washington, Anita Shirley of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Janice Smeallie of Alexandria; and five grandchildren.
