CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AT HUNTER'S INN

CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! While sitting at a table with 5 adults and 5 children under age 3 an approximate 3x 5 foot heavy framed plate glass mirror fell off the wall, glanced off my head and fell completely over my 3-year old grandson, the mirror laying over the back of his chair and onto the table. Luckily he was shorter than the chair he was sitting on. I dragged him out from sideways from under the mirror. It was very heavy. After shouting out “HELLO! HELLO! Somebody help us,” the hostess and one other person casually walked in. Two guys got the mirror off the table and the hostess said, “The child touched it!” The child was sitting in his chair with his head below the chair line or he would have REALLY been hurt. Imagine him leaning over the table and a plate glass mirror slamming on top of his head, crushing it between the mirror and the table! Imagine if my 6-month old granddaughter was sitting there in a high chair! We really don’t recall anything remotely like concern coming out of any of their mouths. They moved us to another table, since there were shards of glass on the table. The owner, Mr. Fred Berman, watched us and said, “If there’s any problem, just call me,” and handed me his card. That was the extent of HIS concern. No “I’m so sorry this happened!” At the end of the meal, we were presented with the full bill--$87.80 plus tax. I asked, “Don’t I get a discount for getting hit on the head with a mirror?” When the waiter checked the owner gave us 10% off. Period. And the hostess was told to save the demolished frame. I’m thinking it will be repaired and put back up on that little nail! My head still hurts five hours later. We are not litigious people, but we DID assume there might be a little concern expressed and a conciliatory offer.
