Montgomery County Fire and Rescue was dispatched just after 1:30 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a near drowning at the River Falls Community Center on Horseshoe Lane in Potomac.

A child had been pulled unconscious from the pool, according to dispatcher information. Bystanders and a lifeguard performed CPR as medics arrived on the scene, according to Beth Ann Nesselt, spokesperson for MCFRS.

The girl was transported to a hospital in Fairfax. She was alert and her condition had improved upon arrival to the hospital, Nesselt said.

The community center representative had no comment at this time.
