Car Crashes In Front Of Potomac Village Rite Aid

A car collided with columns supporting an overhang in front of the Potomac Village Rite Aid Friday afternoon.

A driver veered into columns supporting an overhang in front of the Potomac Village Rite Aid Friday afternoon.

No one was injured in the single-vehicle crash, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman. Fire and Rescue personnel responded around 3:20 p.m., Garcia said.

The car didn't hit the Rite Aid, but damaged the support columns in front of the building, Garcia said.

The Rite Aid is located at 10134 River Road in the Potomac Place Shopping Center.

Fire and Rescue called a building inspector to the scene, and the sidewalk around the overhang was closed to pedestrians.

It's not yet known was caused the driver to veer into the support columns, Garcia said.

ok- why pull punches if you are going to report this?- one cant possibly have run into those columns unless they are intoxicated, asleep at the wheel, senile or hallucinating ? which is it ?

Nothing new here. This exact thing has been happening at this spot for 40 years. IMO you take your life in your hands in this parking lot, with all of the idiots and bad drivers. Stand and watch for 15 min and you will see numerous acts of stupidity, from overdressed women inching along across the street, talking on their cell phones, unaware of any traffic, to geriatrics who cant seem to figure out how to get in to or out of a parking space, to opportunists looking to steal your GPS or laptop left in an unlocked vehicle. Sigh.....

It's a shame they were still blocking the drive aisle. Every day in this parking lot is like the day before Christmas. The aggression continues inside each establishment too.

It's obviously the fault of deer...or bikers...

The parking spaces begin too close to the stores in this jammed and busy parking lot. It is amazing that no one was hurt. That looks like a very nice new Mercedes, and barely a scratch on it.
