Car Crashes into Potomac Village Business

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to calls about a car that ran into a building on River Road.

Update, 1:55 p.m.: An elderly man has been transported to a local hospital for a check up after crashing his car into the store front of  -- a children's clothing store in the Potomac Place Shopping Center -- on Friday afternoon.

The elderly man behind the wheel clipped the side of the walkway and drove through the front of the store, said Beth Anne Nesselt, a spokesperson with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Montgomery County Police and structural engineers are at the scene assessing damage to the building. The car was towed shortly after the accident, Nesselt added.

Update, 1:16 p.m.: Around 1 p.m. on Friday, a car ran into a building at the 10100 block of River Road in Potomac.

An adult male is being transported to a local hospital for a check up, said Beth Anne Nesselt, a spokesperson with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Structural engineers are on the way to the scene to assess damage to the building and get a clearer idea about the cost of repairs, Nesselt added.
