Charges Dropped in Pipe Bombing Incident

Farzin Sadeghi will not be charged with the pipe bomb that went off in front of a house on Inglewood Drive in Potomac.

Charges have been dropped against the man believed to be responsible for putting a  outside of a Potomac mansion on Inglewood Drive.

Prosecutors would not reveal why the family decided not to prosecute Farzin Sadeghi, for the March 16 pipe bomb incident, according to a WTOP story.

Sadeghi was business partners with one of the homeowners, according to the WTOP story.

Police identified Sadeghi early on as a suspect and obtained search warrants for his residences at 10109 Valley Dale Lane in Marshall and 18715 Walkers Choice Road in Gaithersburg.

The residence at 9214 Inglewood Drive involved in the explosion is a 7,560 square-foot house on two acres of land in Potomac. As of January 2011, the property had a base value of $4,052,320, according to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue released that no one was home at the time of the blast, and initial damage was estimated at $25,000.

The occupants of the house are two Iranians with permanent resident status in the United States, according to court documents. 

Police found a necklace at the scene of the explosion that may be have helped lead to Sadeghi’s arrest.

Montgomery County prosecutors told WTOP that the case is still under investigation and Sadeghi could be recharged.
