Nearby: Child Struck by SUV in Potomac Driveway

A 7-year-old girl remains in critical condition after being hit by her mother’s Mercedes SUV on Sunday, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

Notified by a neighbor shortly after 9:30 p.m., police found the girl lying unresponsive in the roadway in the 9900 block of Potomac Manors Drive, where police found the child unresponsive, police said.

Police said the mother may have in advertantly struck the child as she was exiting the family’s driveway to go grocery shopping, according to police.

Montgomery County Police Spokesman Capt. Jim Daly told WTOP that the mother returned home, realizing she had forgotten something to find emergency responders with her daughter inside their home.

The girl was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release.
