Police Blotter: Sept. 12-20

The 1st District Montgomery County Police Department released crime information for Sept. 12-20.

 

Three burglaries, two attempted burglaries, one scam and multiple thefts-from-auto were reported in Potomac in the Montgomery County Police Department crime summary for the period of Sept. 12-20.

Burglary:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8900 block of Falls Farm Drive, Potomac, on Saturday, Sept. 17, between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 10400 block of Democracy Lane, Potomac, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1:25 a.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8900 block of River Road, Potomac, between Tuesday, Sept. 13, and Thursday, Sept. 15. Unforced entry; property taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 9900 block of Potomac Manors Drive, Potomac, on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 2:35 a.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 9400 block of Eldwick Way, Potomac, on Saturday, Sept. 17, between 8:00 a.m. and 9:16 p.m. Unknown means of entry; it is not known whether anything was taken.

Scam:

  • A scam/theft occurred in the parking lot of the Capital One Bank, 10211 River Rd., Potomac, on Friday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. The suspect offered to “fix” the victim’s dented vehicle, sprayed paint on it, obtained cash and promised to return the next day but failed to do so.

The suspect is a white male, 50 years old, and was wearing a white shirt, dark pants and brown leather shoes. He is believed to be 5-foot-8-inches tall at 160 pounds.

Thefts-from-Auto:

  • Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred throughout Potomac at various times. Most vehicles had either unlocked doors or “unknown entry.” Only loose items in the vehicles were taken. Affected streets included the 10400 block of Democracy Lane and the 8900 block of River Road.
