Police Make Arrest in Connection with Pipe Bomb

Police arrested Farzin Sadeghi, 68, for his alleged involvement in the pipe bomb explosion in Potomac.

Police have arrested a 68-year-old man believed to be responsible for a outside of a Potomac mansion on Inglewood Drive on March 16.

On Thursday, Fire and Explosive Investigators from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service worked with Virginia State Police to arrest Farzin Sadeghi — who resides in a Marshall, Va., and Gaithersburg, Md.

Police identified Sadeghi early on as a suspect and obtained search warrants for his residences at 10109 Valley Dale Lane in Marshall and 18715 Walkers Choice Road in Gaithersburg.

The residence at 9214 Inglewood Drive involved in the explosion is a 7,560 square-foot house on two acres of land in Potomac. As of January 2011, the property had a base value of $4,052,320, according to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue released that no one was home at the time of the blast, and initial damage is estimated at $25,000.

The occupants of the house are two Iranians with permanent resident status in the United States, according to court documents. 

Police found a necklace at the scene of the explosion that may be have helped lead to Sadeghi’s arrest.
