Police Release Video of Suspect in Hotel Robbery

Police say the man implied he had a gun before taking cash from the clerk.

The Howard County Police Department is hoping the public can help identify the suspect in an armed robbery at a hotel, and the department is offering a reward of up to $500 for information that leads to an arrest.

According to police, a man walked into the main entrance of the Comfort Inn on the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup on Dec. 14 and approached the clerk. The man lifted his shirt, implying he had a gun in his waistband, police said.

The man gave the clerk a plastic bag and demanded money, according to police; the clerk complied and the robber left on foot.

Police describe the robber as a tall, black man with average build, a goatee and a thin, chin-strap beard.

Police said the robber was wearing a winter hat with tassels, black sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark stripes on the arm – possibly Adidas brand – Khaki cargo pants, black gloves and brown shoes.

According to a statement released by spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn, the attached video shows the robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 410-313-STOP; callers may remain anonymous. Citizens can also use the county’s iWatchHowardCounty smartphone application to provide tips anonymously.

At least nobody got hurt. This could have ended a lot worse if he went after the hookers working there.
