Police Respond to Vehicle Theft, Vandalism in Mid-April

Montgomery County Police released information about crimes in Potomac is mid-April

Montgomery County Police responded to several thefts from vehicles, a vehicle theft and vandalism in Potomac in mid-April.

A vehicle theft occurred in the 11700 block of Gainsborough Road overnight on April 11. The suspect stole a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe that had the keys in the car in plain sight, police said. The suspect also stole a GPS from within the car. Police recovered the vehicle and arrested the 19-year-old male responsible.

Two other thefts from vehicles happened on Bentridge Avenue in Potomac in mid-April and police are still looking for the suspect.

Between 11 p.m. on April 13 and 8:30 a.m. on April 14, a GPS was stolen from a car in the 9200 block of Bentridge Avenue. Police do know how the suspect entered the car.

Property was stolen from a car in the 12100 block of Bentridge Avenue between 2 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. on April 16. The suspect did not force entry into the car.

Police said the suspect is a black male between 5 foot, 9 inches and 5 foot, 10 inches. The suspect — who drove a 1997 Chevy Cavalier — wore a black mask, black Northface jacket, black pants, shoes and gloves.

Also, police reiterated their at Beth Sholom Congregation and Talmud Torah, Julius West Middle School and two local businesses on April 17. The crime, which police investigated as a possible hate crime because of its proximity to Passover, involved a suspect shooting out the windows of the businesses, school and synagogue with a BB gun.
