Report: Search for 19-Year-Old in Potomac River Suspended Monday Afternoon Due to Severe Weather

The search for a missing swimmer was suspended Monday afternoon due to severe weather conditions, The Washington Post reported.

The search for a 19-year-old man in the Potomac River was suspended Monday afternoon because of severe weather late in the day, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews decided, The Washington Post reported.

The man went missing while swimming in the Potomac River in Great Falls, according to fire and rescue spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt, The Post reported.

Nesselt added that the search would resume after the weather cleared. "Authorities said at 5:30 p.m. that they were trying to decide whether they would search after dark. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in the county until 10 p.m.," The Post reported.
