Residential Burglaries Reported in Mid-July

Three burglaries and two aggravated assaults reported; car defaced with graffiti.

Residential burglaries led the list of Potomac area crimes reported for early to mid-July, according to the most recent information released by Montgomery County Police.

Three burglaries and two aggravated assaults were reported in the crime summary, covering the period from July 4 to July 12. A weapons offense and a vehicle found defaced with graffiti were also reported.

To prevent burglaries, police advise making sure doors windows are doors are locked when no one is home, as well as alerting neighbors when out of town. Using timers on lights, radios and televisions will help to create the impression that someone is home. Remember also to confirm cars door are locked and valuable items removed.

Burglaries and offenses:

  • A residence was burglarized in the 11500 block of Luvie Court, between 7:00 a.m. July 9 and 6:00 p.m. July 10. Means of entry is unknown; property was taken.
  • An burglary was attempted at residence in the 10100 block of Counselman Road, on July 7 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.  Forced entry was attempted but unsuccessful.
  • A Verizon trailer site, at 13801 Dufief Mill Road in North Potomac, was burglarized on July 11. Entry was forced but nothing was taken.
  • A garage door in the 9200 block of Pavonia Court was spray-painted with Graffiti, sometime between 9:30 p.m. July 9 and 8:45 a.m. July 10.
  • A weapons offense occurred on a block of Ranch Court on July 9, after officers discovered an unsecured weapon in a location accessible to minors.

  • An aggravated assault occurred outside the Maryland County Detention Center (MCDC) at 1307 Seven Locks Road on July 6, when a suspect assaulted an officer. The suspect, a 22-yr.-old male from Baltimore, was arrested.
  • A second aggravated assault took place at Quince Orchard High School, 15800 Quince Orchard Road, in North Potomac on July 11 at 11:00 a.m. A 15-year-old male suspect from Germantown was arrested for assaulting the victim.
