Water Main Break Closes Portion of Seven Locks Road

Seven Locks Road from Bells Mill Road to Scotland Drive is closed due to a water main break.

Officials at Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission estimate that a water main break at Seven Locks Road between Bells Mill and Scotland Drive may take four to six hours to clear up.

The break occurred in a 42 year old pipe, according to I.J. Hudson, spokesman for WSSC. Depending on the severity of the problem, repair time may take longer than estimated.

"When they get down there they could find something else they need to do," said I.J. Hudson, spokesman for WSSC. "They've got to be sure of what they've got, so that may take a little bit."

Water will be shut off in the area while crews repair the damage. Approximately 153 customers will be affected, Hudson said, including the Scotland Community Center.

Montgomery County police were called to the area early this morning after reports of the break and .

No injuries or property damage are reported at this time, officials say.
