Woman Robbed, Punched In Potomac Apartment Building

After the woman was assaulted, she noticed that cash was missing from her purse.

A woman was punched in the eye and robbed in the trash room of a Potomac apartment building Nov. 18, according to Montgomery County police.

A 43-year-old woman was in the basement trash room of an apartment building in the 10500 block of Montrose Road around 6:30 p.m. when she noticed a man rummaging through the trash, according to police spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Innocenti.

The woman asked the man if she could help him, and he turned and punched the woman in the eye, Innocenti said.

The man then ran up the steps and fled the building, Innocenti said.

After the incident, the woman noticed cash was missing from her purse, according to Innocenti.

Police would not say whether the woman lived in the building.

Police are describing the suspect as an unshaven man, about 50 years old, standing about six feet tall and weighing about 220 pounds.
