Potomac's Serial Burglar to Be Sentenced May 31

Brad Edmonds, a 34-year-old from Boyds, will be sentenced on May 31 for crimes he committed in Potomac.

A Boyds, Md. man will have his sentencing on May 31 after Montgomery County Police arrested him in November for a series of burglaries and thefts from vehicles in Potomac.

, 34, after an investigation where the 1st District investigators collaborated with Fairfax County Police to watch Edmonds' activity in Potomac from Nov. 16 through Nov. 17, according to a release from the Montgomery County Police Department.

Edmonds' sentencing will take place at the Montgomery County Circuit Court with Judge Ronald Rubin, according to court documents.

During the investigation that lead to his arrest, police said they witnessed Edmonds break into two cars parked in driveways on Lake Potomac Drive. Police recovered evidence that Edmonds committed a residential burglary in the same neighborhood and attempted a second residential burglary a few blocks away. Edmonds stole cash and personal items from the residences and vehicles.

Investigators followed Edmonds after the burglaries and arrested him at the intersection of River Road and Falls Road at about 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 17.

Police searched Edmonds' residence and found a rifle he allegedly stole from a vehicle parked in the 13300 block of Drew's Lane in Potomac.

Edmonds is charged with first-degree burglary, attempted first-degree burglary, two counts of malicious destruction of property under $500, two counts of theft between $1,000 and $10,000, two counts of rogue and vagabond, theft under $1,000, fourth-degree burglary tools, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Edmonds’ attorney is Ronald Gottlieb. Calls to Gottlieb were not returned by the time the story was published.
