Report: Summer Meals Program Keeps Growing

A program to offer free lunch to kids over the summer now includes 115 sites throughout Montgomery County.

"Hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation," Marla Caplon, director of the Montgomery County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services, told The Gazette.

It's the philosophy behind the school system's ever-expanding summer lunch program, which is now offered at 115 sites throughout the county, including drop-in locations where anyone under the age of 18 is welcome for a free meal, the newspaper reported.
