The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority is working on the sewer line along MacArthur Boulevard as part of its Potomac Interceptor Odor Abatement Project. The Potomac Interceptor is a 50-mile-long gravity sewer system that transports wastewater to the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Washington, D.C.; however, vents along the way are a source of odor, especially during warmer temperatures.
