Van Hollen Recognizes Potomac Grads for Service

Three Potomac students received the 2011 Van Hollen Public Service Award.

Three recently graduated Potomac high school students received recognition on Tuesday from Rep. Christopher Van Hollen, D-Md. for their contributions to the community and school.

Evan Tassis, a graduate; Katharine Funari, a Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart graduate; and Antonios “Adoni” Anagnostopoulos, a Walt Whitman High School graduate all received the 2011 Van Hollen Public Service Award.

Van Hollen presented the awards to graduating high school students at participating schools in Van Hollen’s district for their outstanding community service. The award reflects Van Hollen’s strong belief in the importance of community involvement and his desire to recognize individuals who are dedicated to serving others, according to his website.
