While we're waiting to hear what Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, will name their royal baby, let's take a look at the Social Security Administration's recently released annual list of America's most popular baby names.

In Maryland, there was a distinctly Elizabethan feel to the most popular girl baby names in 2012, while parents of boys got totally Biblical.

The top five baby names for Maryland boys in 2012:
  1. Mason
  2. Michael
  3. Jacob
  4. Noah
  5. Ethan
The top five baby names for Maryland girls in 2012:
  1. Sophia
  2. Emma
  3. Ava
  4. Olivia
  5. Isabella
That list, surprisingly, didn't deviate much from the national top baby names:

Boys

  1. Jacob
  2. Mason
  3. Ethan
  4. Noah
  5. William

 Girls

  1. Sophia
  2. Emma
  3. Isabella
  4. Olivia
  5. Ava
