Rockville's Atrium Building Sells for $15.75M

The National Institutes of Health will continue as a tenant, and a new business will relocate its headquarters to the Rockville site.

Rockville-based Washington Real Estate Investment Trust has sold The Atrium Building for $15.75 million to an unidentified buyer, the real estate investment trust announced Tuesday.

The new owner plans to relocate a business headquarters to the property, according to WRIT.

The National Institutes of Health will continue to lease space from the site, WRIT’s President and CEO George F. “Skip” McKenzie said in an announcement of the sale.

According to WRIT, the 80,000-square-foot office building at 6101 Executive Blvd. in Rockville was built in 1980 and acquired by WRIT in 2002. The Washington Business Journal reported that WRIT purchased the building for $14.2 million.
