Beverly Farms Elementary Students Return To New Building Today

Check out the new building at a Friday open house.

The new Beverly Farms Elementary School welcomes students, teachers and parents today as students return from an extended winter break to their new school building on Postoak Road.

A staple in Potomac since 1967, the Beverly Farms Elementary building was torn down in 2011 to make way for a new building and new technology. After 18 months of construction the new building is ready to welcome classes.

"It's fitting that our new year will start in the new building," said Principal Dr. Beth Brown. "Brand new play equipment, new technology and a huge new building: Everything in the classroom is so bright and exciting."

Beverly Farms students had Wednesday's school day off to allow teachers and staff to prepare for classes in the new building.

School starts at 8:50 a.m. today, and residents will see buses rolling down Postoak Road by 8:40 a.m. According to Brand, teachers will be guiding students between classes for the next week as everyone gets used to the new layout.

The community is invited to a public unveiling of the new school during a Friday open house from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the building located at 8501 Postoak Road. Those unable to make the public open house are invited to schedule a tour during school hours, according to a school annoucement on Patch.
