Churchill High School Celebrates Graduation

A look at the graduation ceremony's sights and sounds.

On Monday, the senior class at took a big step into their future through graduation.

The ceremony, which took place at DAR Constitution Hall, honored the students for their hard work and dedication while at Montgomery County Public Schools.

Senior Class President Jane Asher addressed the class offering memories of the good times at Churchill and encouragement about the future.

"Our diplomas are not just pieces of paper, they are symbols of everything we have worked for and everything we strive to be," Asher said in her farewell to the class. "These diplomas represent the four years at Churchill and the people we have become because of our high school days."

Dr. Judy Docca of the Montgomery County Board of Education spoke at the ceremony and commended the students for contributing to another outstanding year at MCPS.

"This is the time of the year that the board members really enjoy because we get to see the fruition of all our efforts and we are so proud of you," Docca said.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was MCPS Superintendent Dr. Jerry Weast, Community Superintendent Dr. Sherry Liebes, 1st Vice President of the Churchill PTSA Joanne Jacobson and principals from the Churchill cluster schools in or near Potomac.

Founder of PostSecret, Frank Warren  and read aloud some of the anonymous responses from Churchill seniors answering the question, "What do you want to hear on graduation day?" Warren also advised students to pursue their passions, even if they seem far-fetched.

Also during the ceremony, the senior class presented a gift to Benz of funds to put toward the school’s .
