Guide to Potomac's Graduation Ceremonies

Congratulations to the Class of 2011! Here are some details about the graduation ceremonies at Potomac schools.

This month, students from different Potomac schools will turn their tassels as they graduate high school. Here’s a look at the graduating classes from Potomac schools and when their ceremonies will take place. Note that most ceremonies are not open to the public and require tickets to attend.


June 3, 4 p.m. at 
Class size: 47
Top of the class: Sarah Allen
Speaker: Martha Nguyen, a graduate from the glass of 1995 and on the Regulatory Counsel at U.S. Food and Drug Administration.


June 5, 10 a.m. at The Heights School gymnasium
Class size: 54
Valedictorian: Ralph W. Fairbanks IV
Salutatorian: David R. Ortiz
Speaker: Jim Towey, who has served as a college president, senior advisor to the President of the United States, key aide to a Congressional leader, member of the Cabinet of a big-state governor, founder of a national non-profit and former legal counsel and personal friend of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He and his wife, Mary, have five children, of which four sons attend The Heights.

Class speaker: Catherine McCaffery
Speaker: Andrew Card, who served as U.S. Secretary of Transportation under President George H. W. Bush and the White House Chief of Staff under George W. Bush.


June 13, 2:30 p.m. at DAR Constitution Hall
