Potomac Student Wins National Scholastic Honors

Ruthie Prillaman of Potomac won the first annual Busboys and Poets $1,000 scholarship for her senior portfolio.

 

Ruthie Prillaman of Potomac, MD, recently received a National Award for her writing in the 2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. 

Ruthie is a regional Gold Key winner and also the recipient of the first annual Busboys and Poets $1,000 Scholarship for Top Senior Portfolio. She is also the recipient of a national Silver Medal. National medals are awarded to less than 1% of all submitted works in the country; total submissions this year exceeded 200,000.

She, along with other National winners, will go on to be celebrated at a special ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 1. The top of the Empire State Building will be lit gold in honor of the students’ achievements.
