Potomac Students Compete in National Spelling Bee

Potomac students will be among those competing Saturday for a spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

 

Potomac middle schoolers and elementary students will get a chance to show off their spelling chops Saturday at the fourth annual Scripps Regional Spelling Bee.

The  will host the regional spelling bee for Montgomery County Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m. at  in Bethesda.

Each year, hundreds of elementary and middle school students from across the United States compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.

Televised live on ESPN and ABC, the spelling bee determines the nation’s top speller. The winner of the regional spelling bee for Montgomery County will
be sent to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Last year’s winner of the regional bee was Fourth School student, Susanna Yau.
