Volunteer Award Accepting Applications For $1,000 Prize

Last year's winner was a Potomac high school student.

Students hoping to follow in the footsteps of Saanya Ali – a top Potomac student volunteer – should polish up their resumes for the 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

The financial services company is accepting applications for the 18th year of the community service award, created in 1995 to recognize middle and high school volunteers. Saanya Ali, 16, of Potomac, was one of Maryland’s top two youth volunteers for the 2012 award, receiving a $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion and a trip to Washington, D.C.
