High School State Playoff Brackets Revealed

Churchill High School teams are competing for the regional title and state playoffs.

A number of athletes will be competing at the state and regional level with their spring sports teams.

On Wednesday, the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association posted playoff brackets for the 2011 season with many Churchill teams participating.

In boys lacrosse, Churchill is the No. 2 seed in 4A-3A West region and advanced on to the next round with a bye. The boys will compete against the winner of the Blake vs. Blair game.

The girls lacrosse team, the No. 1 seed in their region, also scored a bye into the next round and will compete against the winner of the Wootton vs. Montgomery Blair game. 

Lacrosse first round games begin on May 12 and the state finals at will be at University of Maryland, Baltimore County on May 24 and 25.

The Churchill boys baseball team earned the No. 13 seed in the 4A West region and will go up against No. 4-ranked Paint Branch on their turf. 

With softball, the Churchill girls scored the No. 4 seed and will compete against No. 13-ranked Walter Johnson at home.

Baseball and softball first round games begin May 13. The baseball state finals are at Ripken Stadium, while the softball state finals are at the Robert E. Taylor Stadium at the University of Maryland, College Park.
