The article applauded Miller’s strategy with the team and ability to push the players through adversity. The article said the following about why Miller was a worthy recipient of their award:

“…what Miller accomplished this year at Churchill is truly worthy of the award. Just before the start of the regular season Miller lost Will Lewis, his senior guard and leading returning scorer, to what was expected to be a season ending injury. Miller rallied his troops and after starting the season off 2-2, (including back to back tough losses to Springbrook and Magruder) the Bulldogs reeled off 13 wins in a row to take complete control over the 4A West division. The Bulldogs won the 4A West division for the first time in 32 years on their way to a #3 seeding in the 4A West regional playoffs, and an 18-6 record. Miller got his team to play completely unselfish offensive basketball, with a focus on defense, rebounding and relentless hustle the team hallmarks. Just an outstanding job by Miller and his team.”
