When Do Fall Sports Begin in Montgomery County?

Calling all aspiring quarterbacks, soccer stars and cheerleaders—it’s almost time to try out for your fall sports teams.
Athletic tryouts at Montgomery County Public high schools begin Aug. 14 for fall sports. (Equipment for certain sports may be picked up on Aug. 13.)

The first day of school in Montgomery County is Aug. 26, and the first games of the season begin about three weeks after the first practice.
Before donning uniforms and cleats for that first practice, student athletes must complete various medical, transportation and participation forms, found on MCPS’ website.

Schedules for MCPS high school sports can be found here and “are generally available by the beginning of August of each school year and can be located using the Schedule Search Prompt.”
