Bethesda Central Farm Market to Celebrate Re-Opening

The Bethesda Central Farm Market will re-open at Bethesda Elementary this Sunday for its spring season and also will celebrate its fifth anniversary.

The Bethesda Central Farm Market’s foray into the spring season and extended hours will take place this Sunday, with a re-opening at Bethesda Elementary School.

This year will also mark the fifth anniversary for the market, which food business veterans Mitch Berliner and Ann Brody Cove started in 2008.

Since opening on Elm Street, the market has opened a second location in Rockville, near the White Flint Metro Station.

The market moved to Bethesda Elementary last year. The location features more accessible parking for patrons and more space for vendors, according to market operators. Sunday’s opening will feature more than 50 farmers and artisan food producers, according to Debra Moser, marketing director for Central Farm Markets.

Additionally, the market includes wine tasting and gardening classes, as well as activities for kids to enjoy while parents pick out fresh produce and baked goods from the local vendors.

Though some residents are concerned the move away from the center of Bethesda will reduce business, market operators are optimistic about the loyalty of their regular customers. The past two years, Bethesda Magazine readers voted the market the best in the area, and the new location is still walkable and accessible via a stop on the free Bethesda Circulator.

The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday at Bethesda Elementary through the spring and summer. More information about the market and its vendors can be found at its website, www.bethesdacentralfarmmarket.com.
