Potomac's Romanian Food Festival Entertains With Dishes and Dancing

Organizers for Saint Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church of Potomac plan to host the food festival twice a year, in the spring and the fall.

Colorful Romanian flags waved outside of the Saint Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church entrance beckoning visitors to the second edition of the church’s Romanian Food Festival.

Event organizers expected upwards of 3,000 visitors over the weekend of May 18-20. The air was full of laughter and the sweet smell of cooking sausages as event-goers gathered to watch demonstrations of Romanian folk dancing and cultural heritage.

“It’s the atmosphere, the culture, the food – we want to show Americans our beliefs and our culture through the live dancing, music and food,” said Dima Samata, parish council president for the church.
