Register Now for Bullis Gives Back 5k/2.5k April 28, 2013

Register now for the Bullis Gives Back 5k run/2.5k walk, April 28. Buddy Run gives a chance for kids of all abilities—even in wheelchairs—to participate! Carnival games, raffles, music & more.

The fifth annual Bullis Gives Back 5k Run and 2.5k Walk will take place later this month on Sunday, April 28 at the School. Supporting three local organizations,the event is open to the community and offers a variety of activities for families.

"Our theme this year is Kids Helping Kids," explained event co-chair and Bullis parent Barbara Guterman. "For the first time this year, a wheelchair accessible buddy run has been added to the events so that children of all abilities can participate along with their families."

Race proceeds from the event will benefit three local organizations: The Diener School, K.E.E.N. (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), and The Treatment and Learning Centers/Katherine Thomas School (TLC/KTS). In addition, the event will support Habitat for Humanity in the three locations Bullis seniors will be volunteering as their capstone project before graduation, as well as S.A.F.E., a fund that covers student activity fees and text books for Bullis students in need.

Race events will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with check-in and packet pick-up, and the first race will begin at 9:15 a.m. Attendees may participate in the buddy run,a 2.5k walk or the 5k run.Both the walk and the run will take place on the Bullis cross-country course that winds through the Bullis campus. The event's three race emcees--Carson from MIX 107.3FM and Tucker Barnes and Julie Wright, both from Fox 5 News--will provide ongoing entertainment throughout the event. "We will also have carnival games, raffle prize drawings, exercise warm-ups and plenty of music," said Guterman, "so whether you want to walk, run or just have fun there will be something for everyone!"
