Students from spent their Saturday afternoon baking pies for charity, Nov. 19.

For 15 years, Bullis students and families have put together Thanksgiving meal baskets with enough food for six people. Montgomery Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) and Interfaith Works help to distribute the baskets to70 families in the area. Every Bullis student and every family contributes to the baskets, from canned and boxed goods to decorations, candles and paper products.

To complement the baskets and reach even more families, Bullis seniors take time off from exams and come in to the school’s kitchen on Saturday to bake 200 homemade apple pies. The pies and baskets are picked up at the school on Monday, November 21 and will be distributed to the families in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
