Serving in the Peace Corps: Like Daughter, Like Mom

One Potomac mom was so inspired by her daughter's service in the Peace Corps that she decided to serve in the Peace Corps as well.

Kids often are inspired by the work of their parents, but sometimes, it works the other way around, too.

Caitlyn Shelley of Potomac served in Thailand with the Peace Corps as an education volunteer from 2006 to 2008. When her mom, Jerilyn Ray-Shelley, 65, visited her, Ray-Shelley was so inspired by her daughter's work that Ray-Shelley decided to serve as well.

Ray-Shelley has been serving as a Peace Corps education volunteer in Thailand since January. The photo accompanying this post was taken when Ray-Shelley (right of center in the photo) visited her daughter (far right in the photo) in Thailand when her daughter was a volunteer.
